“Coach Marco has not decided yet on his roster for this year. He obviously wants young and experienced players on his squad knowing that Italia is hosting the 2014 Women’s World Championship. Coach has not reached out to Lo Bianco but he has expressed the idea of contacting her so they can talk about her current physical condition and other personal matters.
Bonitta is NOT a big fan of naturalized players to play for the national team. If Lo Bianco declines, then I think he has no choice but to invite Aguero to train and see what she can bring to the team. She was a hitter/setter when she played for Cuba and her experience will for sure help Italy. She is not in great shape yet but Tai is very much willing to become 100% ready if she is invited to compete for Italy.
If Coach takes Tai then this means that Argentinian-Italian outside hitter Carolina Costagrande will be excluded from the team due to the FIVB rule a national team can only have 1 naturalized player.
The question is will Francesca Piccinini be interested to play for Italy again if Aguero is on the team. It’s pretty obvious they had conflict when they both played for the team in 2007 & 2008 seasons. Let’s not forget that Piccinini and Lo Bianco are still not in good terms after their publicized feud last year.”
