How can we decide whether a setter is good or not?
For example, in Trentino, Lukas Zygadlo used to be a substitue for Raphael. However, Lukas Zygadlo was playing as a substitue setter for Polish Natioanl Team and in 2011 and 2012 even as a starting setter. On the other hand, Raphael didn't even get to play for Brazil a lot. I understand that Brazil is probably stronger than Poland in volleyball. But I didn't expect the gap in setter level to be that huge; besides, Lukas Zygadlo had earned the best setter title on club level and natioanl level.
Also, I had an impression that people here tend to think Sergey Grankin, Russian starting setter, is not good. However, the Russian coach still choose Seregey Grankin to be the starting setter rather than Aleksandr Butko, who was the starting setter of Russia in World Cup 2011.
I believe there are both subjective and objective criteria on deciding whetehr a setter is good or not. And I understand the divergent opinions on setters are the result of the subjective criteria. However, I have no idea what the objective criteria are. Anyone knows?
(Please forgive me for using English, I can for sure use Chinese, but it would take me like 1 hour to type these in Chinese; sorry for the potential inconvenience caused)
