Russia to host FIVB WorldVolleyball Championship 2022?
The behind-the-scenes talks have been going on for a long time until finally,the Russians confirmed that they are trying to become the hosts of the WorldChampionship 2022.
The president of theFIVB Ary Graca hasofficially met with the minister of sports in Russia Pawel Kolobkov. Also, the president of the Russianvolleyball federation Stanislav Shevchenko and the head of the CEV Aleksandar Boricicwere present at the meeting.
The minister Kolobkov has confirmed that one of the topics at themeeting was a plan to organize this big volleyball event in 2022.
Recall thatRussia was the host of the men’s volleyball World Championship, in 1952 and in1962. In 2007, the Russians organized the European championship, winning thesilver medal, losing the final from the Spanish National team, which was led byAndrea Anastasi.
