August 14, 2010 – The 2010 FIVB World Grand Prix matches to be held in Macau, China on Sunday will be closed to spectators out of respect to the victims of the recent mudslides in China.

China is to hold a national day of mourning on Sunday for the 1,239 people who have died in mudslides, which occurred last weekend in the Zhouqu county - northwest of the country. Chinese flags across the country and embassies worldwide will be lowered to half-mast and public entertainment suspended however, due to already existing contracts the 2010 FIVB World Grand Prix games will go ahead.
The two 2010 FIVB World Grand Prix matches – the Netherlands v the Dominican Republic (05:30 GMT) and China v Brazil (07:30 GMT) – will feature one minute silence prior to each game.
The China v Brazil match will continue to be streamed live on FIVB TV.
