Polish opposite and news magnet, Kasia Skowronska aka Katarzyna Ewa Skowrońska-Dolata, has revealed that she has decided to rejoin Poland just in time for the 2011 European Championship. In case you didn’t know, Kasia had a major conflict with the coach (Matlak) last year but the Polish Federation has fired the coach & hired a new one. Kasia describes coach Alojzy Swiderek as “a good professional who knows how to balance work and maintains a harmonious relationship with his player plus he has the characteristics of an excellent coach”.
Here are some revelations we found from her interview withPrzegladsportowy.pl.
On her decision to come back.
The decision was made a long time ago. Coach Alojzy called me and asked me I’d be interested to rejoin the team. I didn’t hesitate for long because I really miss playing for Poland. I am glad that I’m on the team now training in Legionowo for the European Championship.
On playing in the Chinese League this coming season.
I received a valuable offer to play in China. It’s a chance of a lifetime to gain experience in a completely different environment, learn different techniques and elements of the game. I am also very pleased to work with the legendary Coach Jenny Lang Ping. Also, I will be on the same team with another foreigner, Carolina Costagrande, who was my teammate when I played for Pesaro. Financially, the offer was something I could not reject. The league starts in mid-December.
On living abroad.
I am accustomed to living abroad. China is only a few hours flight away from Italy or Turkey, so I can fly anytime I want. The Chinese culture is very interesting and I’m curious to discover it. I am not afraid of oriental cuisine - tasty fish and other delicacies to choose from. Whenever I get bored, I can just cook plain chicken with rice (she jokes).
We’re really glad that she has decided to rejoin Poland and it seems like she has resolved the reported conflict she had with Anna Baranska-Werblinska.
To make Poland stronger, we now wish Glinka to rejoin the team even if she has revealed she won’t play this season.
