How does it feel to be pregnant.
Nice. I was lucky that I haven’t been ill or anything, I only felt a bit tired the first couple of weeks but that probably had something to do with the weddings, it’s been quite busy. But once we were back in Belgium everything went perfect. So I definitely can’t complain.
Have you been on a honeymoon?
No we haven’t.
That was just a trip then?
I think you know Brian lives in America. We went to visit his family.
You’re expecting a girl, they told me?
Yes. Indeed. That’s what they told me too J. I can’t really see that on the echo, the doctor has to say that.
Did you already think about a name?
Now we’re starting to think about that already but we haven’t found anything we both said about like, that’s it, so no, not yet.
Tradition in your family is continued: a girl. Although the Lynch family?
The family Lynch only has boys. Brian, they had 4 boys. Brian’s oldest brother already has a daughter, there it’ll be the second grandchild, in our family it’s the first one.
Will you be playing tennis again after your daughter is born?
I already presumed this question would be asked today. Euhm, I’m going to answer to that: I’m not even half way through my pregnancy, so I’m definitely not going start thinking about coming back. I’m very much enjoying my pregnancy at the moment and tennis is like the last thing I’m thinking of at this moment.
You’re going to play tomorrow isn’t it?
Yes, a doubles match. But well, I still play tennis every now and then. I always like doing it. And if Caroline asks to play, then I do that. But that’s definitely not with the same attitude and definitely not in the situation I’m in right now.
When was the last time you played? This week?
Yes, with Caroline. She’s still playing tournaments and then I train with her.
You’re sort of Carolines sparringpartner.
Yes J. I like doing that. It’s fun.
What do you think about Lindsay Davenport?
That’s super. With Lindsay, since she stopped with her pregnancy, we send each other emails every week. I always had a lot of contact with her. She has always been someone who was very driven but also someone who loved doing things off the court. She says that it’s really fantastic right now, that she has everything she wants: she can play tennis and has the baby with her. So she’s really happy she says.
Have you recently had contact with her? After her win in Bali?
Yes, yes, of course.
She also said that she would like to convince you to do the same…
She hasn’t written that in her email yet.
Who did you get the idea to give this party in this parc?
Well, when I’m abroad or when I’m in Belgium and we go somewhere with my friends, every now and then we go to an attraction parc also abroad. Like in New Jersey where Brian is, in the meantime we already went to an attraction parc a couple of times. So that is something I like going to.
So you really like it?
Yeah, definitely. I do have to say that I used to be able to run from one thing the next but now I have to take a break after one ride.
So this is going to be an exhausting day. Do you think your shape is good enough for that? Cause now you just walk around everyday, not like in tennis.
Oh, I’m still quite busy when I’m home. It’s not that I just lie down in the sofa all day when I’m home. I’m still very active. I can walk around here calm and it’s even relaxing so for me it’s something nice to do.
Did you train shaking hands?
Oh, well, I had to do that often over the years so I didn’t really have to train for that.
Of course you kept following the tennis.
Actually not really. At home we hardly ever watch television. The only thing Brian and I are addicted to is the serie 24. That’s the only thing we watch television for.
Did you follow Justine?
No, I really didn’t see anything from tennis. I saw one men’s match: Nadal against… I don’t know against who it was. Just very shortly. I didn’t watch the entire match. Just every now and then. |
