新闻:
Only a few days after seizing the title of the Russian Superleague in Ekaterinburg, Russia’s heavyweight Zenit KAZAN announced their plans for the 2014/2015 season where the roster will undergo some changes.
Lukasz Zygadlo got injured shortly before the start of the 2013/2014 season and in the end did not play any match for the likes of the Tatars. Lukasz attended the Final Four of the 2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League in Ankara cheering on Zenit from the stands and showing that his recovery was almost complete. However, Zenit has decided to focus on Russian setters for the future and therefore the contract with Zygadlo was consensually terminated by both parties.
Serbia’s Volleyball star Nikola Grbic had stepped in for Zygadlo and played 38 matches with Zenit this season, helping the team make the Final Four of the CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League and seize the title of the Russian Superleague. Grbic has already returned to Italy where he intends to continue his career after enjoying the summer break together with his family.
Another veteran, Roman Yakovlev, will also leave the ranks of Zenit KAZAN after setting a record this year for he won the Russian Superleague 16 years after lifting that same trophy for the first time in his career – back in 1998 while playing for the likes of Lokomotiv BELGOROD. Yakovlev played 45 matches this season with Zenit. Alexander Mochalov is also set to leave the capital city of Tatarstan and continue his career elsewhere in Russia.
Waiting for others to join its ranks, the roster of Zenit currently includes the following players: setter Igor Kobzar, wing-spikers Evgeny Sivozhelez and Matthew Anderson, opposites Maxim Mikhaylov and Victor Poletaev, middle-blockers Alexander Abrosimov and Nikolay Apalikov plus liberos Vladislav Babichev and Alexey Verbov.
The first major “coup” for the next edition of the Russian Superleague was landed by Dinamo MOSCOW whose ranks will be joined by Ivan Zaytsev. The son of 1980 Olympic champion Viacheslav who was born in Italy and just won the national league with Lube Banca Marche MACERATA, announced in an interview he gave to the daily newspaper “La Repubblica” that he will be moving to Russia next year in order to see more often his parents who currently live in Saint Petersburg.
