Q: You have a problem an ankle problem, so you decided to leave the court and then you came back on the court. What happened today?
PATTY SCHNYDER: Well, as you saw, I twisted my ankle. I knew I had a problem in the evening already, but then I woke up yesterday and I just couldn't walk. I felt a pain -- it wasn't on the side. It was --it was on my foot.
I decided to leave, because this guy, my physios, he can do almost everything and I have great confidence in him, so it was my decision to leave. I had been treated yesterday at 6:00 and again this morning at 6:00, so I left.
I took the plane at 7:00 this morning, and Fabrice helped me quite a lot, because he wanted to put me first, for the first match today, and I was back at ten past 10:00.
They took my racquets, and I started practicing with the tape, as you see, but it hurts me on the side of my ankle, on the left, yeah.
Well, it still hurts a bit, but it's nothing to do with the pain I suffered yesterday.
Q. Can you translate what you have on your shoulder? What it is?
PATTY SCHNYDER: It's the Chinese symbol for dragon.
Q. Is it new?
PATTY SCHNYDER: Yes. I had it last year in November.
Q. Oh, I had never seen it. Does it mean anything special to you?
PATTY SCHNYDER: You know what? When you do that it does have a special meaning, always. But it's very personal, as all tattoos. So I just love it.
Q. Next round you're going to play Srebotnik and not Serena. You know that already. But does it change anything in the way you approach the match?
PATTY SCHNYDER: It's going to change my preparation a bit, but I'm very happy I can play my game and use my backhand. Not like yesterday and the day before when I had to play in a way I don't like very much.
But Serena, today she missed many balls, so I have to be ready and play well.
Q. Many players have decided or are just about to decide to retire because they're tired with the pressure and everything, but you're still here because you have fun with your tennis. Is this really the reason? Because you have great fun? Because your tennis is varied? Because it's not always the same pressure?
PATTY SCHNYDER: I still have a few years ahead of me. I want to play. I'm in good health. I can travel around with my husband, so that helps me quite a lot. Then I have a lot of free time I can spend with him, and that makes up for the pressure.
But it's true there are things which are hard and difficult in our life.
